Description

Jobs in this family provide public information for State agencies in various multimedia formats. This includes carrying out specialized communication and production services for use by the public or agencies.

Typical functions

The functions within this job family will vary by level, but may include the following:

  • Perform graphic and/or website design, photography, videography, and social media work.
  • Utilize software and equipment for specialized production needs.
  • Produce publication requests.

The work assigned to positions in this series ranges from running software and equipment to project management and coordination.

Multimedia Specialist

This is a first-level multimedia position accountable for applying technical knowledge to run software and/or equipment to support specialized production needs of agencies. Employees follow set directions and guidelines to produce publication requests with minimal customer interaction. Employees have the autonomy to prioritize work, but do not have input into layout or design changes.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

Knowledge of graphic art methods. Knowledge of specialized production software. Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

Associate degree or equivalent experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)

Senior Multimedia Specialist

This is a second-level multimedia position accountable for identifying, planning, and developing communications and/or informational material, which may include photography, videography, and other graphic and/or website design methods, relevant to the needs and interests of agencies or the public. Employees collaborate with internal clients to manage the design, production, and distribution of unique publications or marketing materials. This includes project management and coordination of diverse resources including agencies, external stakeholders (vendors), etc., and editing of final content to ensure alignment with goals and expectations of clients.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of methods and techniques used in video production, photography, and website design. Ability to demonstrate specialized technical expertise with sophisticated production equipment or software design programs.

Typical qualifications

Associate degree and 0-2 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
