Program Specialist

General summary

This is a second-level professional position accountable for managing the processes and activities of an agency program or operation or providing support to senior management in a specialized area. Applies professional and technical knowledge to undertake analysis and interpretation of information and data. Participates as a contributing team member, presenting recommendations and building on others’ ideas. Performs assignments under the general guidance and advice from more experienced colleagues or supervisor.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to the assigned program or operation. Skill in the analysis and interpretation of information and data, and presentation of recommendations.   

Typical qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
