General summary

This is a supervisory direct care position in the care, treatment, and/or security of forensic psychiatric and/or sex offender clients in maximum and intermediate security areas. Accountable for administering medication and other prescribed treatments; taking vital signs, assisting with care plan activities; observing and reporting client conditions and behaviors; and participating in rehabilitation, ambulation, and transfers. Oversees work of other support staff. Communicates with doctors, clients, and families, and educates clients on care. May provide transport to offsite appointments and application of restraints, when necessary. May perform some security-related functions in a mental health care setting.  

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous levels: Knowledge of facility practices, rules, and regulations; and methods and techniques of supervision. Ability to evaluate the work of assigned staff.

Typical qualifications

2-4 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
