General summary

This is a professional teaching position accountable for developing curriculum and lesson plans, and planning and implementing course content and methods to meet the needs of state facility clients. Employees at this level ensure classroom discipline; adhere to State and Federal testing guidelines and mandates; prepare reports based on client attendance, performance, progress, and skills assimilation; and may be accountable for accommodating IEPs (specific to individuals with special needs).

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous level:  Knowledge of practices, techniques and methods of teaching.  Ability to develop materials fitting the needs and abilities of the students. 

Typical qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and certification. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
