General summary

Land Surveyor-In-Training positions are accountable for data collection, routine data analysis (such as spatial data), quantity estimating, and compilation of data for legal documents. Incumbents create basic maps and prepare map exhibits. Surveying work is performed under the direction of a Licensed Land Surveyor and/or supervisor. Typically, tasks are well-defined using templates and models.

Knowledge of mathematical principles. Ability to negotiate a variety of terrain. Ability to be detail oriented and a good communicator.

Typical qualifications

Certified as a Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT).
