General summary

This is a professional position accountable for independently organizing, leading, and executing audits within their assigned function or for an agency. Employees complete audits requiring specialized skills within a framework of professional standards that apply to a specific auditing function (e.g., internal, State, Governmental) to develop a plan, determine scope and objectives, and develop procedures and secure resources needed to complete the audit.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing expenditures of state and federal funds. Skill in critical and analytical thinking. Ability to communicate findings and recommendations in a clear and concise manner, work under pressure and meet deadlines, and foster a cooperative environment and promote collaboration.

Typical qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience and/or appropriate certification. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
