General summary

This is a position within the State’s central budget office accountable for analyzing legislation, governing policy, administrative rules, fiscal policy actions, and performance standards for an agency or the State. At this level, employees review fiscal impact statements for legislative concepts and proposed legislation, identify needed changes and assist in developing recommendations, and assist in or develop proposals for statewide fiscal policies and program areas, or for an entire agency.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration, budget administration, and legislative processes. Knowledge of budgetary/fiscal and financial analysis software. Ability to effectively prepare, organize, and present the results of research or analysis. Ability to analyze and interpret legislation, governing policy, operational strategies, and financial data.

Typical qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 0-4 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
