General summary

Managerial position accountable for the oversight of social service activities of a facility or program. Accountable for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating programs and evaluating the effectiveness of these programs. Develops procedures and administrative policies, and administers program budget.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous levels: Knowledge of the principles and practices of administration and management in a public social welfare agency. Ability to develop short and long-range plans that meet established objectives and contribute to the overall goals and mission of the agency. Ability to develop, implement, and administer assigned program(s) or services to achieve positive program and client outcomes.  Ability to engage, train, and supervise professional human resources and support staff.

Typical qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
