Quality Control Coordinator

General summary

A supervisory position at this level is responsible for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of quality assurance and testing systems. An incumbent typically supervises a small team of quality assurance/quality control staff. Focus is on the design and development of test scripts and adaptation of test scripts from source manufacturers. Mentors quality assurance/quality control staff.

A specialist at this level is responsible for quality assurance and testing of the most complex systems. Designs and develops test scripts, and adapts testing scripts from source manufacturers. Conducts pre- and post-implementation testing, creates test plans, and creates processes for defect tracking. Gains an understanding of user requirements and reviews requirement specifications. Coordinates user acceptance in accordance with the specifications established. Conducts load testing and regression testing. Liaises with other information technology (IT) functions and vendors to ensure that effective quality assurance processes are maintained and utilized. Provides complex technical support in quality assurance, control, and testing techniques and protocols. May serve as project lead and/or provide technical direction to lower-level team members. Mentors less experienced staff.

In addition to those identified in the previous levels: Skill in gathering and interpreting data, and providing recommendations. Ability to mentor, coach, and develop skills of staff. Ability to facilitate group discussions.

Typical qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 5-8 years of IT experience with emphasis in quality assurance, control, and testing. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
