This is a professional position conducting research and surveys to identify, record, evaluate, and preserve archeological/architectural cultural resources. Work involves inventorying, documenting, and maintaining databases of collections. Additional duties include preparing historical and cultural items for storage, shipping, or display as well as ensuring compliance with state and federal preservation laws. Work also may involve assisting with or conducting educational and outreach functions, archaeological excavations, and architectural investigations.
Knowledge of the state’s historical architecture and/or archaeological heritage. Knowledge of historic preservation principles and practices. Knowledge of the state and federal preservation laws. Knowledge of research sources and methodologies. Knowledge of storage and preservation techniques and methods. Ability to operate a motor vehicle, travel, and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.
Bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
