General summary

This is a first-level Capitol Police position assigned routine and defined tasks within the area of patrolling the interior and grounds of State office buildings and properties. Assists in providing security for the Governor and family, elected officials, state employees, and the general public. Answers questions and assists with crimes and accidents within Capitol complex boundaries and conducts investigations independently or in coordination with other law enforcement agencies.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

Knowledge of Missouri statutes relating to criminal law and arrest procedures as they apply to law enforcement and security operations in a state-operated facility. Ability to quickly assess information and events to make decisions in emergency situations. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license. Ability to become proficient in physical arrest tactics and firearms usage.

Typical qualifications

Possession of a Peace Officer license.
