Advanced Security Officer

Job family
General summary

This is second-level security work protecting public property and equipment against loss or damage from theft, fire, vandalism, or other causes, and maintaining order and proper behavior of individuals and groups for a state facility. Implements lockdown procedures as needed, assists with security technology, organizes “out trips,” and assists with shift scheduling. Employees at this level function as a lead worker and/or shift supervisor and apply knowledge and experience to analyze situations and provide appropriate response.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of lockdown procedures. Ability to provide guidance to staff. Ability to coordinate security activities with outside agencies and assist in facility safety programs.

Typical qualifications

2-3 years of relevant experience.
