Senior Safety Inspector

General summary

This is an advanced vocational-level position accountable for performing inspection activities that require knowledge of a specialized area. At this level, employees have the ability to make recommendations to approve or reject construction plans and drawings per compliance requirements. Employees take equipment/items in and out of service and may issue stop work orders. Employees at this level assess compliance with applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, and approved drawings; and investigate potential violations and complaints.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of applicable occupational hazards and safety precautions. Ability to critically observe, obtain data, and prepare detailed reports on findings. Ability to provide guidance, assistance, and training, and/or conduct educational seminars and presentations.

Typical qualifications

4 or more years of relevant experience. Specialized certification may be required. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
