Maintenance/Grounds Technician

General summary

Second-level vocational employees responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, and repair of state buildings and facilities. Employees work in a variety of trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair in settings such as facilities, grounds, and cemeteries. May also oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge in a variety of trade areas including: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair. Skill and ability to operate tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds related equipment. Ability to provide and follow directions. Ability to interpret and apply technical manual. Ability to obtain required licenses and or certification.

Typical qualifications

1-3 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
