Specialized Trades Worker

General summary

This is a second-level vocational position specializing in areas such as: electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); electronics; carpentry; concrete and masonry; welding; plumbing; and/or painting. Positions are accountable for completing skilled work within a specialized trade and can apply trade- specific knowledge to troubleshooting and work that is complex or varied in nature.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous level: Skill in procedures, processes, regulations, and practices applicable to assigned specialized trade. Skill in operations and maintenance of equipment and tools. Ability to lift and carry heavy loads, bend, reach, climb ladder, and work from heights.

Typical qualifications

4-6 years of on-the-job training in the trade area.
